Tenneco, one of the leading designers, manufacturers and marketers of products in the automotive sector, with 156 factories and 71,000 employees, selected last September, for its plant in Beniparrell (Valencia), the edinn platform as its control of the production (also called Manufacturing Execution System or MES) and Industry 4.0. After 4 months of project, edinn is installed in 60 production lines, integrated withwith their own other systems, such as incentives, and managing a daily average of 650 work orders.

This technological advance has given Tenneco a boost in its goal of digitizing its plant in Beniparrell (Valencia) to satisfy its customers by controlling production and optimizing manufacturing processes. Their strategy was to select a complete, powerful, standard, documented and open MES system so that, through its API, they could integrate it with their current digital solutions in less than 4 months. They also took into account that edinn has been operating for years in another division of the group.

Increased productivity and competitiveness with the edinn Open Platform for Digital Transformation

Tenneco’s ambitious goals were:

  • Install the MES, in less than 4 months, in 60 lines; pre-adjusting the dashboards to their needs.
  • Integrate own developments for a particular management of the planning and maintenance of master data.
  • Obtain production summary reports for the calculation of incentives.
  • Have real-time information on the progress of production and forecast compliance with objectives.

To achieve the above goals, they considered multiple MES solutions and chose edinn because it is:

  • Standard and fully documented, which minimizes vendor dependencies and offers the possibility of being more autonomous.
  • Open and totally flexible thanks to its API that allows the system to be improved or adapted to any need, generating competitive advantages.
  • Powerful and therefore capable of absorbing numerous functionalities in a short time: from basic infrastructure functions such as OPC/UA capture and sending data from one server to another, to high-level functions such as displaying dashboards and all the functionalities of a complete MES with Big Data and Artificial Intelligence.

The result is that edinn has been successfully installed, configured and integrated on schedule, fully adapting to Tenneco’s requirements but maintaining its MES standard as a base platform for digital transformation and Industry 4.0; thus ensuring great potential to cover any need, at an acquisition and maintenance cost without competition.
