When we talk about Industry 4.0, we have to take into account how important the “autonomy” factor is. In order to achieve the objectives in less time and at lower cost, the facilities must be open, both in the MES Systems world and in any other type of platform.
The customer wants to be able to obtain what he wants in a short time, without need to depend on third parties to achieve the projects.
In edinn we have several examples of this, such as a user with an in-house development department, who asked us to develop a new scorecard they needed to show certain KPIs in each of the production lines. The user sent us a sketch of how they wanted the dashboard to be. We, as usual in these cases, we passed 3 options:
- Put you in contact with a partner (collaborating company of edinn) to develop the dashboard within the edinn system or in an external dashboard visualization tool.
- Request the edinn central team if it would make sense to incorporate the new dashboard to the edinn platform standard.
- That it will be developed by the user’s own technical development team using the edinn API along with the user’s favorite development platform.
The user’s response was that they were going to study the options and that they would contact us.
Two weeks later, one Friday afternoon, we received a message that said: “Look, we have it!” Along with an image of the dashborad. It was exactly as they had asked. The user himself had developed it.
The dashboard had been developed by the user’s company development team using the edinn API and their favorite development environment.
His joy was very great. And ours, too.
